Shea Carey

saving this for later (throwaway post)

My name is Shea, and my pronouns are they/them! Welcome to my blog! I’m an undergraduate student majoring in art practices at CU Boulder, and my areas of focus are drawing traditionally and digitally! My preferred medium in my casual art-making is digital, with my program of choice being Clip Studio Paint.

I used to be an MCDB (molecular, cellular, and developmental biology) major, however in the 2nd year of the pandemic I found that learning chemistry over zoom wasn’t conducive to being the most… engaged scientist. Thus, I decided to change majors to the one thing I’ve always loved with my whole being– making art! I’ve considered myself an “artist” since the day I could pick up a pencil in kindergarten, though I’ve only started to take it seriously in these past several years. While I did (and still do) love biology, I’ve found that pursuing my artistic growth this seriously has been incredibly satisfying, and I’m excited to see where my education in this field takes me.

I don’t particularly know what I want to do with art in the future, but as of right now I love to incorporate my love of creating into my other hobbies, which include gaming, playing dungeons and dragons, and cosplaying!

To the right (or below on mobile), you can see a few of my digital pieces that give you a taste of what I like to draw, most of which being DND characters. In creating art digitally, I’m very interested in applying what I know from traditional mediums to a digital platform, especially when it comes to rendering.
